Marilyn D. Shroyer, age 68, of Uhrichsville, died peacefully Monday evening, May 17, 2010, following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Howard and Ethel (Grant) McConnell, Marilyn was born at Wheeling, West Virginia on April 15, 1942.She was a 1960 graduate of the former Midvale High School and on August 9, 1962, married the love of her life and husband of forty-seven years, Earl Shroyer. As a couple, Marilyn and Earl enjoyed participating in activities as members of Roxford United Methodist Church where for many years they enjoyed working with the youth. Marilyn also was active within the Women’s Society for many years.Marilyn had a servants heart and enjoyed being around others. For more than eighteen years, she was a familiar face in Rod’s Donut Shop at Uhrichsville where she served as a waitress. Additionally, Marilyn enjoyed working with ceramics as a hobby and enjoyed gifting her crafts to others. She was especially known for her gifting of ceramic Christmas trees as wedding presents and often received Christmas cards from those she had given gifts to through out the years.Marilyn also enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to take many cruises and travel to the Middle East and tour the Holy Land on a handful of occasions. In addition to her husband, Marilyn is survived by two sisters, Bertha Baxter of Midvale and Penny (James) McKain of New Philadelphia and a brother, Donald H. McConnell of Uhrichsville.Two nieces Darla Ohler of New Philadelphia and Krystal Baxter of Uhrichsville; a nephew, Anthony McKain of Bowerston and several great-nieces and great-nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Isabelle and Russell Shroyer.The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2010, one hour prior to services from 10:00 Â? 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Ron Heasley will lead a service celebrating Marilyn’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.Following the committal the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Family Life Center of Roxford United Methodist Church where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Roxford United Methodist Church, 771 Roxford Church Rd, SE, Dennison, Ohio 44621, or to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
