Marie Steiner

Marie D. Steiner, 91, of Dover, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Everett Floyd and Grace (Shepler) Reed, Marie was born January 13, 1926 at Blissfield, Ohio.

On September 10, 1946, Marie married Jacob R. Steiner at Canton, Ohio and together they raised four children, Edward, Sheila, Jerry and Karen. The couple shared 58 years of marriage prior to Jacob’s passing on August 18, 2005.

Marie enjoyed flowers and gardening and along with Jacob, she enjoyed canning vegetables. She also enjoyed traveling and being on the go but most of all she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Edward (fiancé, Darla Hinderer) Steiner of Louisville, Sheila Kamler of New Philadelphia, Jerry (Susan) Steiner of Canton and Karen (Danny) George of Louisville; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Ben) Lewis of Coshocton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Charles Kamler and a brother, Earl Reed.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. In keeping with Marie’s wishes, cremation will follow visitation and inurnment will be held at a later date in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens at Canton.

Contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
