Marie Jones

Marie Jones, 89, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Hennis Care Centre at Bolivar following recent period of declining health. Marie and her family took great pride in her health and the fact that she was able to remain independent for nearly her entire life.

A daughter of the late Pete and Lee (Chaney) Ohler, Marie was born January 20, 1924 at Barnhill, Ohio.

Marie was a member of the Canton Temple of Praise and during her younger years she worked as a self employed home health aide.

She greatly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grand children who will remember her for her great spirit of hospitality. Marie enjoyed baking and would often deliver her goods to her family, neighbors and friends. She also enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by a daughter, Jane Stein of Dover; her granddaughters, Pam (Randy) Arras of Massillon, Kim Wood of Bolivar, Renee (Rich) Garner of Columbus, Stephanie (Neal) Yoder of Bolivar and Holly (Brian) Yoder of Dundee; her great grandchildren, Sasha, Joelle and Ryan Oliver, NaChrista and Nicholas Wood, Lauren, Madeline and Jack Garner and Noah, Emily, Luke and Allie Yoder; a son-in-law, Doyle Davis of New Philadelphia and a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Jones of Dundee.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Jones Sr.; a son, Robert E. “Bob” Jones Jr.; a daughter, Bonnie Davis; a sister, Nina Carr and a brother Robert Ohler.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Marie’s life will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Schrade officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park.
