Marie E. Drumm, 82, of Wooster, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Wooster Community Hospital.A daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Haupert) Everett, Marie was born December 13, 1927 at Tuscarawas, Ohio.Marie graduated from Tuscarawas-Warwick High School in 1945 and continued her education at Grant Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1949.She was formerly employed as a nurse at Twin City Hospital at Dennison as well as a nurse in the offices of Dr. E.R. Hammersley and Dr. W. C. Roche.Marie was baptized in the Fry’s Valley Moravian Church and grew up in the Sharon Moravian Church at Tuscarawas, the same church where she would marry her husband, William J. Drumm, on May 1, 1949. The couple shared 58 years of marriage prior to Bill’s passing on March 24, 2007.After moving from the Tuscarawas Valley, Marie and her family took up residence in Wooster, Ohio and she became an active member of the First Presbyterian Church at Wooster. Just a few of her activities in the church included singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and Bible School as well as serving on various committees. She was also a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter AP.Marie and her family relocated to Hamilton, Ohio where she was a member of the Front Street Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and member of the choir. During her time in Hamilton, she and her husband became the host parents of 10 different international students and the couple viewed each one as a member of the Drumm family.Before returning to Wooster, Marie and her husband resided in Columbus, Ohio for nine years. During this time, she was an elder and choir member of the Redeemer Moravian Church.Marie obviously dedicated much of her time to her church, but she also spent countless hours volunteering herself to many organizations throughout her lifetime.Marie had a great love for children and especially her own grandchildren. She was a nanny for Sammie Post for four years and came to love Sammie just as she would one of her own grandchildren.She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Jon) Buss of Germantown, Tennessee and Peggy (Larry) Herrick of Wooster, Ohio and her dear grandchildren, Andy (Megan) Buss and Rachel and Matthew Herrick.Completing the family is her sister, Grace Ann (Richard) Calderon of New Philadelphia, Ohio; many loving nieces, nephews and dear friendMarie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.The family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Marie’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the John Heckewelder Moravian Church at Gnadenhutten.
