A. Marian Pfeiffer, age 94, of New Philadelphia died unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 20, 2012, in Union Hospital at Dover.
A daughter of the late Lewis and Emma E. (Hawk) Keffer, Marian was born on the family’s Old Town Valley farm, outside of New Philadelphia, on July 17, 1918.
She was a 1936 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and began working for the Bowers Law Firm for a number of years prior to joining the General Telephone Company where she worked as a secretary for 24 years prior to her retirement.
Marian was a lifelong member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the Old Town Valley; where for many years, she kept active as a Sunday School Teacher and served as the Superintendent of the Primary Department. In fact, she had even attended church services this past Sunday morning. Aside from her church activities, Marian enjoyed her work as the Past-President of the New Philadelphia Professional Business Women’s Association, the Eastern Hills Pioneer Club and the Swiss Club.
Later in life, Marian enjoyed quilting and keeping her yard and flower gardens that surround her home in near perfect order.
She is survived by her step-children, Janice (husband, Mel) McAfee of New Philadelphia, Fred (wife, Edna) Pfeiffer of Stone Creek; a nephew, Mike Keffer, and two nieces, Lou Ellen White and Gineta Possehl.
Completing the family are five step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, and six great-nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Donald Keffer; an infant niece, Lou Etta Keffer; her first husband, Al Lohman and her second husband, Edwin Pfeiffer.
The family will receive guests one hour prior to services on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead a funeral service celebrating Marian’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
Following services, all are invited to attend a meal and fellowship in the Social Hall of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
