Marian L. Watson

Marian L. Watson, 91, of Dover, died Tuesday January 24, 2006 at Country Club Retirement Campus.A daughter of the late Bruce and Ruby Cramer Angus, Marian was born July 25, 1914, in New Philadelphia, Ohio.She was a 1933 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and had worked at the former W.T. Grant Company. Marian enjoyed crocheting and sports and participated in tennis, bowling and basketball, she also played women’s professional basketball as a member of the Nehi Bottling team. She married James R. Watson on July 28, 1935, he preceded her in death in 1999.Marian was an active member of the Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), in New Philadelphia, and a member of its Sariah Circle.She is survived by a son, James B. (Becky) Watson, of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Laurel (James) Roll, of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Steven J. (Lori) Watson, of Gahanna, Debra S. (Jerry) Finley, of Dover, Douglas J. (Brenda) Roll, of Dover, Dana L. Roll and fiancé Jerry Recchio, of New Philadelphia, and Jan A. (Jamie) Roll, of Bolivar; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Wilma Watson, and Walter and Freda Watson; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Mardis and Shirley Watson; nine great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Marian was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Vida and Donald Rhodes; sister, Minnie Caroline Angus; a grandson, Jay Edward Roll; brothers-in law, Richard A. Watson and Philip Mardis and Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Vivian Watkins.A memorial service celebrating Marian’s life will be held Monday January 30, 2006 at 11 am in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia with Elder Glenn Carlisle officiating. Following the service a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
