Marian Jean Fragasse, 84, of Navarre and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 in Altercare of Navarre.A daughter of the late Foster and Merle (Graff) Stonebrook, Marian was born February 18, 1923 at New Philadelphia.Marian graduated in 1940 from New Philadelphia High School. Being the avid Quaker fan she was, Marian was proud of the fact she graduated the same year the Quaker basketball team won the Ohio state championship. She then graduated from Beckwith Business College at New Philadelphia.During World War II, Marian worked as an administrative secretary at Timken Roller Bearing Company at Canton and then in the 1950’s, she served as the secretary of the administrator at Union Hospital.Marian was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia and a former member of Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. She enjoyed tending to her floral gardens and bird watching. She also enjoyed visiting Tuscora Park with the Merry-Go-Round being her favorite part of the park. Marian was a devoted wife mother and grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family.She is survived by a daughter, Tina Hammontree of Jackson Township; granddaughters, Heather Hammontree who is attending the Univeristy of Florida at Gainesville, Florida and Christine Hammontree of Jackson Township; three brothers-in-law, Peach Fragasse of New Philadelphia, Henry Fragasse of Dover and Burman Berndt of Dover; a sister-in-law, Jewel Fragasse of Nashville, Tennessee and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Marian was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Harment “Armando” Fragasse, whom she married on June 26, 1954 in St. Joseph’s Church at Dover.Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Marian’s life will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at Dover.
