Maria “Lill” Covic

Maria “Lill” Covic, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia follow recent illness.

A daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Meier, Lill was born January 31, 1925 at Schlavia, Germany.

On August 13, 1952, Lill married the love of her life, George Andrew Covic, and together the couple raised one daughter, Elizabeth.  She was a devoted wife to George, even long after his death on July 27, 1972.  Lill dearly loved her family and was also a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was Roman Catholic by faith.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Elizabeth Grier of New Philadelphia; her grandson, Andrew James Grier of New Philadelphia; her great grandson, Kayden Andrew Grier of North Canton and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Lill was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Joseph Meier.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  Private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
