Margery M. Kratz, age 84, of Baltic, O. and formerly of New Philadelphia passed away early Thursday morning, August 4, 2011 in Oak Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Baltic.Born April 1, 1927 in Dover Township, Margery was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vadena M. (Grimm) Thomas. After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1945, Margery married her late husband, Charles “Chuck” Kratz on August 14, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1966.Margery was a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. There, she enjoyed her participation with the Adult Sunday School class and Church Council. Margery also was a member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens. In 1968, she retired from Miller Studio in New Philadelphia where she had worked in its packaging department throughout her career.Margery’s life was filled with much love and laughter in the company of her family whom she deeply treasured.Whether on the golf course in Sugarcreek, playing cards with friends, or enjoying a game of bowling, Margery’s quick wit and love for life was evident to all she was with. She also enjoyed seeing the world through travel and dancing throughout her lifetime. Margery is survived by her two nieces, Nancy (Randy) Gibbs of New Philadelphia and Linda (Lael) Nussbaum of Midland, Michigan; her great-nieces, Rebekah (Ben) Cole of Jackson Twp. and Jennifer (Jim) Summers of Texas; her great-nephews, Aaron (Gretchen) Gibbs of Delaware and Scott Nussbaum of Virginia; her great-great-nieces, Emily, Olivia and Abigail Summers and Katelyn Nussbaum; and her great-great-nephews, Landon and Simon Gibbs, David Cole, and Brendan and Kyle Nussbaum.In addition to her parents and husband, Margery was preceded in death by her loving and devoted sister Betty J. Kern.Pastor Earl Miller will officiate Margery’s service in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory chapel on Saturday, August 6, 2011 beginning at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
