Margaret A. Scolati, age 92, of Dover, and formerly of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Wednesday, April 16, 2008, after a period of declining health.Born at Cleveland, Ohio, on May 5, 1915, Margaret was the third daughter of Frank W. and Mary (Moleskie) Moliski.She retired from Tuscarawas Central Catholic School cafeteria and considered the students and volunteers her extended family. Margaret was known for her cooking ability and unselfishly shared this talent with her family and friends.A life member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia, Margaret was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Loyal Christian Benefit Association, and Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. For many years she was a lay distributor for Holy Communion, visiting shut-ins on a daily basis. She was named LCBA National Fraternalist of the Year in 1999. One of her great joys was contributing to the funeral dinner ministry at Sacred Heart. Margaret was a former Union Hospital Gray Lady and a long time volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Many years were spent as coordinator of the Sacred Heart Church food pantry. In January, 2007, Margaret was recognized as a 50 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Margaret and her husband were involved in the founding of Starlight School at New Philadelphia. She will be remembered as a lady who truly shared her time, talent, and treasure with many. On July 13, 1940, she married H. Joseph Scolati who preceded her in death in 1986. Together they raised five children: Mary Leeper and Elizabeth Scolati of Dover; Joseph (Jean)Scolati of Baltimore, MD, Annie (Richard) Dalpiaz, and Michael (Jill) Scolati of New Philadelphia. Two sisters, Rita (John) Goth of New Philadelphia, Cathrine (Donald) Ringwald of Chillicothe; four grandchildren Brian Dalpiaz, Eric Dalpiaz, Haley Scolati, and Jared Scolati also survive. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Frank Moliski and Fr. Wendel Moliski; and sisters, Agnes Yosick, Mary Barkett, and Frances Moliski; a son-in-law, Thomas Leeper, and a beloved grandson Scott Dalpiaz.Friends are invited to call Sunday, April 20, 2008, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Franciscan Christian Wake Service, lead by Deacon Ron Fondriest will begin Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Monsignor George J. Schlegel and Father Ed Keck will concelebrate Mass of Christian Burial Monday, April 21, at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Fathers’ Schlegel and Keck will be assisted by Deacon Ron Fondriest. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
