Margaret Rebecca Korns

Margaret Rebecca Korns, 86, of Walnut Creek and formerly of New Philadelphia, died early Tuesday morning, June 1, 2004, in Walnut Hill Nursing Home.Born December 1, 1917 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Isaac E. and Esther V. (Finefrock) Korns. After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1935, she continued her formal education at Capital University where she graduated with a teaching degree. While in college, she sang in the college choir. Then, Margaret taught 2nd and 4th grades at New Philadelphia Schools for 35 years. Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia. She was also a member of the McDowell Club and a former member of the Dover branch of the American University Women.Margaret is survived by her nieces and nephew, Rebecca Jergens of Columbus, Sarah Korns of Shelby, Ohio, and David (Sally) Korns of New Philadelphia; two grand-nieces, Rachael and Elizabeth Korns, both of New Philadelphia; and two grand-nephews, Joshua Jergens of Shelby and Tyler Korns of New Philadelphia.In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Korns, a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Helen Korns, and an infant nephew, Joseph Korns.In keeping with Margaret’s, no visitation will be held. A public graveside service will be officiated by Pastor Mark Behrendt at Evergreen Burial Park on Thursday, June 3, 2004, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
