Margaret Louise Harbaugh, age 83 of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A daughter of the late George and Viola (Downing) Courim, Margaret was born on February 8, 1931 at the family farm near Roxford Church in Union Township.
On June 3, 1951, she married Harland Harbaugh and together the couple reared two daughters and celebrated 42 years of marriage prior to his death on December 20, 1993.
A longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church at New Philadelphia, Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at Christmas and was well known for her macaroni salad. In her free time, Margaret enjoyed watching classic movies, attending yard sales, and caring for her beloved dog, Mr. Wiggles.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Chuck) Anderson of Dover and Debra (Terry) Ashbaugh of New Philadelphia; a sister, Gloria Leavers of Uhrichsville; five grandchildren, Michael (Diana) Anderson, Timothy (Angela) Anderson, Yvonne (Donny) Pettitt, Carrie (Jeremy) Hagey, Elizabeth (Roman) McComb, 11 great-grandchildren, and an expected great-grandchild due to arrive in August.
The family will receive guests one hour prior to services on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Larry Fletcher will lead a service celebrating Margaret’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
