Margaret Avon

Margaret A. Avon, 96, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Harry William and Ester (Busby) Stephen, Margaret was born May 25, 1916 at Adena, Ohio.

Margaret was a member of First Christian Church at New Philadelphia and she enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her sons, William Eugene (Sandy) Avon of Uhrichsville and David (Nannette) Avon of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Robert (Amy) Avon, Scott Avon, Connie (Scott) Beckley, Timothy (Lisa) Avon, Kristi (Steve) Salapack, David “DJ” (Stacey) Avon and Michael Avon and her great grandchildren, Taryn, Rehgan, Justin and Jayden Avon, Tyler, Brooke and Breanna Beckley, Bryce and Paige Avon, Gage and Tenley Jaberg, Kyle, Kourtney and Kara Salapack and James “Jim” Avon.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold “Popeye” Avon.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery near Hopedale, Ohio.
