Margaret Ann Haager-Jones, age 78, of Strasburg and formerly of Dundee, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.
Born at Dundee, Ohio on February 27, 1934, Margaret was one of two children born to the late Daniel P. and Lorna (Bradley) Haager.
Margaret was a graduate of Dundee school and married Gordon J. Jones on April 11, 1954. As a couple they reared five children and celebrated nearly 40 years of marriage prior to Gordon’s passing in 1994.
For a period of time, Margaret worked for the former Garver Brothers Store at Strasburg before turning her duties toward the home front and family life. Like many of her generation, Margaret enjoyed being the caretaker of her large family and was always certain to see each one had what they needed to make each day successful.
A member of the Dover Baptist Temple, Margaret enjoyed learning and fellowshipping with those in her congregation. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, playing card games, working puzzles and reading.
She leaves behind five children, Daniel Jones of New Philadelphia, David (Phyllis Jean) Jones of Uhrichsville, Dennis Jones of Strasburg, Dale (Louise) Jones of Dundee and Lorna (Greg) DeLong of Morrisville, North Carolina; an aunt, Mary Margaret Haager of Dover and two cousins, Donna Jean Messer of Beach City and Alyce Ann Yaggi of Dover.
Three grandchildren, Reneé Jones, Denise Cochenour and Danielle DeCastro; two great-grandchildren, Shayla and Chloe DeCastro; a special friend Victoria Phillips of Grant, Alabama and her children, Austin, Eli, Rina, and Isaiah complete the family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Haager.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Pastor Chris Rhodes will lead a funeral service celebrating Margaret’s life in the Dover Funeral Center on Thursday at 10:30 AM. In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, cremation will follow the service with a private inurnment to take place in the Dundee Cemetery.
