Margaret A. “Maggie” (Scardino) Perko, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover.A daughter of the late Sam and Carmella (Campo) Scardino, Maggie was born February 10, 1918.Maggie, who was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia since 1925, attended Sacred Heart School in New Philadelphia and graduated from the eighth grade.She was primarily a homemaker; however, Maggie was formerly employed by Belmont Stamping and Enameling, Reeves Mill and East Sparta Ceramics. She was also a member the Altar Society and the Senior Citizens of Sacred Heart Church.She is survived by two special nieces, Dolores Perko Weaver and her husband Joe of Dover and Lillian K. Perko Devlin of New Philadelphia. Also surviving are one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Louis H. Perko, whom she married in Sacred Heart Church on April 24, 1948. Louis died December 4, 2004. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Vincent and Jack Scardino and one sister, Anna Scardino.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia where a Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made in Maggie’s name to the Sacred Heart School, 320 Fair Avenue NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
