Margaret A. Jenkins, age 84, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover following a sudden illness.A daughter of the late Ernest and Erma (Cullman) Gibbs, Margaret was born at New Philadelphia on July 16, 1925.She was a 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on April 22, 1950, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Margaret married William Jenkins and together the couple reared three children.A lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia, Margaret was active within her community having been involved with the Lady Elks, the Tuscarawas County Election Board, Dress a Child, T-4-C, and was an active member of the Tuscarawas County Friends of the Library.Margaret loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed the time she spent with her family. Additionally, she enjoyed being a member of numerous bridge card clubs and being creative by making arrangements on driftwood.Throughout their sixty year marriage, Margaret and Bill enjoyed traveling having taken numerous trips to Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean. In addition to the sights, they enjoyed meeting new friends along the way. In addition to her husband, Margaret will be missed by two daughters, Sally (husband, Dr. David) Figowy of Cape Cateret, North Carolina and Jody (husband, Greg) Martin of Erie Michigan and a son, Jay (wife, Pamela) of the Atwood Lake Region.Five grandchildren, Abby Jenkins, Hallie Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Haley Phalen, and Morgan Phalen complete the family.In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Gibbs, Eugene Gibbs, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Gibbs.The family will receive friends in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, May 7, 2010, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with church council service to be held at 7:00 PM. The Reverend Stephen L. Patrick will lead a service celebrating Margaret’s life in Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 10:00 AM.
