Maddalena Ringinelli Chercony

Maddalena Ringinelli Chercony, age 91, of Scenic View Nursing Center in Millersburg, O, and formerly of 324 Second Street NE in New Philadelphia, died Friday, January 7, 2005. Born in Ravenna, Italy, July 7, 1913 she moved to the United States after marrying the late Frank A. Chercony on May 16, 1953. Mr. Chercony preceded her in death October 17, 1965.Mrs. Chercony was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was a homemaker for most of her life and also served as a caregiver to the late Lucy Natoli.Survivors include a sister, Allegrina Angelini of Faentino, Ravenna, Italy, a niece; Joann (James J.) Pringle, Sr. of New Philadelphia, great-nieces Denise Lukens, Mary Jo Dessecker, Rhonda Converse, Lori Devore, and great-nephews; James J. Pringle, Jr., Larry, Tom, and Jim Chercony as well as an extended family that resides in Italy and a host of great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Chercony was preceded in death by a brother-in-law; Joseph, brother in law, Lawrence P. Chercony and nephews Lawrence and James Chercony. Monsignor George J. Schlegel will officiate a funeral mass for Mrs. Chercony Friday morning, January 14, 2005, at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. Family members and friends are invited to gather in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home from 9:30 until prayers begin at 10:15 before the cortege departs for the church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia will follow the mass. Family and friends are invited to gather following the committal service, in St. Ambrose Hall, adjacent to the church.
