Mabel O. Lane Leatherman

Mabel O. Lane Leatherman, 90, of Cadiz, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 6, 2006, at Harrison Community Hospital, in Cadiz.A daughter of the late John and Mary Maki Lane, Mabel was born on September 9, 1915, in Leedale, Alberta Canada.She was a 1935 graduate of Butte High School, in Butte, MT. and had worked in the restaurant business there. Following her marriage she and her husband owned and operated a farm for 56 years. Mabel was an avid reader, loved nature, was a great baker, enjoyed canning her own fruit and vegetables and enjoyed working outdoors.She is survived by her husband, John F. Leatherman, whom she married on June 14, 1944; a son and daughter-in-law, John F. and Melody Leatherman, of Cadiz; a grandson, Richard G. (Beth) Leatherman; four great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and a brother.Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia and Friday, March 10, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Services will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib chapel. Burial will be at Holmes Church Cemetery.A reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the committal.
