Mabel Goedel, 89, of Baltic and recently a resident of Walnut Hills Nursing Home died Wednesday evening, June 5, 2002, in the nursing home of natural causes.Born Nov. 13, 1912, in Barrs Mills, she was a daughter of the late Charles Robert and Amelia Catherine Pfister Schnitzer.She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Baltic, the Lutheran United Women and she enjoyed gardening, quilting and spending time with her family.She was married to the late Willis Goedel who preceded her in death on May 11, 1978.Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney (Linda) Goedel and Jeffrey (Jacki) Goedel, both of Fresno, and David Goedel of Newcomerstown; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Idella Kretzinger of Sugarcreek.Also preceding her in death were three sisters and two brothers, Esther VonAllman, Minnie Albaugh, Wilma Geiger and Frank and John Schnitzer.Funeral services will be held Monday, June 10, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Smith-Geib Funeral Home at Sugarcreek. Rev. David Hammel will officiate, and burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery at Baltic. Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
