M. Mabel Brown

M. Mabel Brown, 70, of Stone Creek, died Friday, September 6, 2002 at Hennis Care Centre in Dover following an extended illness.Born in Brownsville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Margaret C. Johnson Ray and was a graduate of Sunfish High School in Sunfish, Kentucky. Mabel had retired after thirteen years of employment from Buehler’s Food Market in New Philadelphia and had formerly been employed by General Telephone. She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Stone Creek and loved sewing and making crafts.Her husband, Gerald F. Brown, preceded her in death January 11, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Penny K. (Rick) Phillips of New Philadelphia and Tammie J. (Tom) Weaver of Sugarcreek; two sons, Jerry R. (Jane) Brown of Dover and Terry L. (Susan) Brown of Dover; two brothers, Edwin M. Ray of Louisville, KY and Roy N. Ray of Shepardsville , KY and four grandchildren, Ashley Phillips; Allen and Aaron Weaver and Spencer Prete-Brown. A brother is deceased.Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9, 2002 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Church of Christ in Stone Creek with Rev. Janet Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Stone Creek Cemetery in Stone Creek. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 8, 2002 from 2 to 4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia.
