M. Grace Mahaffey, Dennison, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday afternoon, May 19, 2004 at Union Hospital. She was 73.Born June 2, 1930 in Fry’s Valley, Grace was one of nine children born to the now late Parker E. and Caroline Lena Gruenig Reichman.She was a 30-year employee of the General Electric Company in Dover, retiring in June of l990. Following her retirement, she provided care for children of friends, relatives, and others in the community, showing them the same love she lavished on her own family.Grace attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan, attending or watching televised games of the Cleveland Indians, the Browns, the Cavaliers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of various local leagues until a broken wrist ended her participation. She was well-known for her cooking, her baking, and her beautiful flower gardens.She will be greatly missed by the family she loved, her husband, Ron E. Mahaffey, with whom she would have celebrated 15 years of marriage in June; daughters, Jeannie (Jim) Mangon of Atwood Lake, and Pat Smith of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Brett J. (Liz) Mangon of Green, OH, Marcie J. (Todd) Haney of Mt. Carmel, TN, Mindi S. Smith of New Philadelphia, and George S. (Erica) Smith of Uhrichsville; great grandchildren, Isabella R. Mangon, Orabi M., Mallee L., Zyan J., and Mayson G. Vazquez, Nicholas S. “Nick,” Michela R. “Sissy,” and Brianna N. Smith; sisters, Caroline A. Reese, Thelma I. Case, Etta L. (Tom) Grimm, Rosa L. (Alan) Walters, Verna M. Garabrandt, and E. Kay (Jim) Grimm; and brother, Fred W. (Joyce) Reichman; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many special friends, including Betty Klink, and Carmi Stauffer.Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Floyd E. Ellwood, a son, Richard “Ricky” Lee Ellwood; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby M. and Paul Hogue; and three brothers-in-law, Ed Reese, Robert Case, and Elm Garabrandt.Friends may call on the family at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, May 21, 2004, from 1:00 Â? 3:00 and 6:00 Â? 8:00 pm, and on Saturday, from 1:00 Â? 2:00 pm at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where services will be conducted by Pastor Michael Walters at 2:00 pm. Following the service, Grace will be buried at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia next to her first husband, Floyd E.
