Mary Darlene Luthy, age 71, of Stone Creek, joined the Lord in Heaven on Sunday, May 3, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover following an extended illness.A daughter of the late Robert and Lucinda (Heath) Barton, Darlene was born on January 17, 1938, at Belmont County, Ohio.A graduate of New Philadelphia High School’s Class of 1955, Darlene soon married the love of her life, Rudy Luthy on December 3, 1955. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending countless hours on holidays and special occasions cooking and preparing special meals for her family and friends.She enjoyed crafting and even operated her own small business, Darlene’s Creative Touch. Additionally, Darlene enjoyed gardening and spending free time organizing her photo albums with the pictures she would take during family events.In addition to her loving husband of more than fifty years, Darlene is survived by three children, Rudy Luthy, Jr., Brenda Luthy, both of Stone Creek, and Mark (Lynn) Luthy of Sherrodsville; six grandchildren, Jacqlyn Luthy of Dover, Alli (David) Thompson, of New Philadelphia, Emily Frey of Stone Creek, Casey, Mark Jr. and Lacey Luthy of Sherrodsville; a great-granddaughter, Katlyn Thompson, of New Philadelphia and an expectant great-grandson to arrive in July.Three brothers, Robert Wheeler of Holloway, Ohio, Dwight (Lucy) Wheeler of New Philadelphia, Jim (Sherry) Wheeler of Dover; four sisters, Debbie (Tom) Virden of New Philadelphia, Pam Wright of Coshocton, Sue Leggett of Dover and Nikki (Steve) Ballentine of Stone Creek as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a sister, Becky; a brother, Gene; and a sister-in-law, Betty Wheeler.The family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bill Haggis will lead a funeral service celebrating Darlene’s life on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.Memorial contributions in Darlene’s name may be directed to, Amyloidosis Foundation, Inc.7151 N. Main St. Suite 208, Clarkston, MI 48346.
