Lucy Phillips, age 76, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Tuscarawas died Friday, December 28, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover. One of ten children born to the late Clarence and Belva Reichman Metzger, Lucy was born on December 23, 1931 at Tuscarawas. On Christmas Eve, 1949, Lucy met Robert “Bob” Phillips and after forming a great friendship; the two were married on April 22, 1951 thus creating a relationship built on Love that bonded a marriage that lasted for over 56 years.Lucy had only one hobby and true passion in life and that was ensuring that her family was cared for and that they were well taken care of. A true lady to all that she met, her personality brightened the day of the thousands of customers and friends whom she became well acquainted with through her years of work at United Bank and later Bank One.Lucy is survived by her husband, Bob, of New Philadelphia; a son, Steven Phillips of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Joy (Terry) Westbrook of Tuscarawas, and Michelle Phillips also of Tuscarawas. In addition, she is survived by three siblings; two sisters, Lois Ickes of Tuscarawas, Betty Tharp of Uhrichsville; and a brother, Donald Metzger of Tuscarawas. Three grandchildren complete the family; Emily and Kari Westbrook and Brody Phillips.In addition to her parents, six brothers and sisters precede Mrs. Phillips in death, Agnes Selzer, William Metzger, Gladys Parrish, Clarence Metzger, Doris Belknap, and Carl Metzger. An infant son, Robert Allen Phillips and her Mother in Law, Emma Phillips also precede Lucy in death.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December, 30, 2007 from 2:00PM Â? 5:00PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service remembering Lucy’s life will be led by Pastor Paul Camp on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 2:00PM in the St. James Lutheran Church at Tuscarawas with burial to follow in the church’s cemetery.
