Lucy M. Heck, age 87 of New Philadelphia, and formerly of Dover, passed away peacefully late Friday morning, January 27, 2012, in Amberwood Manor with her loving son at her side. Born at Dennison November 29, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John and Ascunta Santa Luchea Russo. Lucy grew up in a large family, and learned the value of hard work and caring for one another at home. Through the trials of early life in the depression, to losing her older brother, Mitchell Russo, in World War II, taking care of family was, and would remain a priority her entire life. Talented in the kitchen, Lucy will be remembered for her delicious wedding soup, spaghetti, chili and gnocchi, which was always a favorite treat for her friends and family. But most of all, she will be remembered for her sweet persona and her kind and generous heart, and for her efforts in making people feel welcome and at home in her company. She will be dearly missed by her son, who was her sole caregiver, Michael Heck, also of New Philadelphia. A sister, Katie Burdette of Dover, and a brother John (wife, Mary Jean) Russo of Uhrichsville, also survive. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.Several siblings are deceased, including sisters Ann Zurcher and Mary “Muddy” Damiene â?? with whom Lucy was especially close. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 4 to 6 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Christian Wake Services will commence at 6PM. Father Matthew Hoover will Celebrate Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 in Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Cremation will follow with interment in Dover’s Calvary Cemetery.
