Lucille A. Smith, Age 83, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover. A daughter of the late Leo George Lorson and Delphia Croskey Hughes, Lucille was born at Burton City, Ohio on April 29, 1927.She was a 1947 graduate of Orrville High School and married James E. Smith on July 25, 1958. Together, the couple would rear three children.For a number of years, Lucille was a housekeeper for the former Delphian Motor Inn and the L&K Hotel at New Philadelphia. She was an avid John Wayne and Billy Graham fan who also enjoyed working puzzles and playing cards. Above all, Lucille adored her family and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed time spent in fellowship with her family during dinner outings at area restaurants.Lucille’s compassion toward others will be greatly missed by her family which includes her husband, James; two daughters, Pamela (Donald) Sundheimer of Strasburg and Michelle Smith, and her companion Joel Gregg; a son, James (Tracy) Smith of Alliance and a sister, Dorothy McKelvey of Florida.Five grandchildren, Nicholas Yoder, Donald Sundheimer, Jr., Brittany Smith, Hope Sundheimer, and Taylor Gregg as well as three great-grandchildren, Anthony Yoder, Madison Yoder, and Zachary Dilyard complete the family.In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katherine Yoder.The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 18, 2010, one hour prior to services from 9:30 â?? 10:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Reverend Richard Greenwood will lead a service celebrating Lucille’s life at 10:30 AM on Saturday in the funeral home’s chapel. Following the service, the family would like to invite guests to join them in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home, where a meal and fellowship will be shared. Cremation will follow with the family holding private burial services in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at a later date.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. William Pipoly for his wonderful care and compassion through the past several months.
