Lucas Paul Garber, 23, of Strasburg, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover following a brave battle with cancer. He will be remembered by his family as the most courageous man they have ever witnessed who is now in a better place, with God in Heaven.A son of Tim and Kelly (Burris) Garber, Lucas was born February 11, 1984 at Massillon, Ohio.He was a 2002 graduate of Strasburg High School and was employed by Belden Brick at Sugarcreek. Lucas was also a fulltime dairy farmer working on the family farm with his Dad.Lucas attended Dennison Four Square Gospel Church with his good friends, Pastor Rod and Susan Phillips and family. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting sports and farming. But most of all, Lucas cherished spending time with his family, his fiancé and especially his brother, Caleb.Lucas loved life to the fullest. He was a wonderful son, brother, fiancé and friend and they are all so proud to have had him in their lives. He is survived by his loving parents, Tim and Kelly Garber of Strasburg; his brother, Caleb (Lindsay Yoder) Garber of the home; his sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Bryan Vickers of Dover; his loving and cherished fiancé, Shannon Williams of Dennison; maternal grandparents, Jim and Janet Burris of Strasburg; a cousin who was so much more, Jacob Myers; special friends who never left his side, Scott, Lisa and Jackson Reifenschneider and Cody Hershberger and Lindzee Snyder and his pride and joy, his puppy, Jezzabelle. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Lucas will be greatly missed and loved forever by all who knew him.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Margery Garber.Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. In keeping with Lucas’ wishes, cremation will take place following visitation and a private memorial service will be held on a later date at the family farm.The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Lucas’ honor to the Dennison four Square Gospel Church, P.O. Box 142, Dennison, OH 44621.
