Louise Wagner Stevens, 80, New Philadelphia, died Friday evening, May 28, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.Born in Stone Creek on August 3, 1923, Louise was one of seven children born to the now late Fred and Marie Marsh Wagner. Louise was an avid reader and history buff, and enjoyed discussing current events. She was also an expert seamstress and quilter. She was a longtime member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia. Louise is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon L. and Gary Young of Mt. Orab, OH and Ellen J. and John Schelble of Arlington, VA; son, Dean H. Stevens of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Annie Wagner, Nettie Bober, and Molly Jones, all of New Philadelphia; and one brother, Fred Wagner, also of New Philadelphia.She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Gayle Ann; her first grandchild, John Benton Taylor; and two brothers, Frank and Joseph Wagner.Visitation will be Tuesday, June 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Funeral services to celebrate Louise’s life will be conducted in the funeral home chapel by Pastor Michael Walters on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at 10:00 am. Louise will be buried next to her daughter at Evergreen Cemetery.A reception at the Geib Family Center will follow the committal.Memorial contributions in honor of Louise may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
