Louise J. Mason, 68, of New Philadelphia, died January 22, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late Samuel A. and Violet C. Shields, Louise was born on March 17, 1938 in Akron, Ohio. Louise graduated from North High School in Akron. Louise was employed by Polskys in Akron, Earl E. Smiths in New Philadelphia, Cross Roads and Tinys in Uhrichsville, Twilight Lounge in Dover, Sifferin in Canton where she was a home manager. Louise’s main enjoyment and priority in her life came from her family. She was an enthusiastic collector of the “TY” bears and other bears. She loved camping, farming, crocheting, knitting, shopping, traveling, her husband’s cats, and making gifts for her family and friends. She was PTO President, a member of the Eagles, Masonic Temple and the Independent Order of Foresters. She was the best spouse, mother, grandmother and friend. Anyone whom had contact with her was truly blessed.In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel A. Shields Jr.She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alvin J. Mason; daughters, Gwendolynn Gilham of Canton, Belinda (Jessie Gardner) Meyers of Tippecanoe, Cynthia (Philip) Patterson of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Heather Gilham, Crystal Gilham, Raymond Currie, Lonn Corso, Wendy Campbell, Myron (Charla) Corso, Catherine Corso, Ryan Parrish; step grandchildren, Shiela (Jim) Wallick, Jennifer (Marty) McDonald, Janette (Bill Jr.) Lafferty; great-grandchildren, Desiree Gilham, Kierra Woods, Thomasina Woods, Zoie Gilham, Eboni Gilham, Alexander Corso, Zachary Corso, Alexis Corso, Jacob Corso, Alexia Parrish, Colt Parrish; step-great-grandchildren, Breanna Polucci, Sierra Polucci, Dominic Cottrell, Rayallen Cottrell, Zachary McDonald, Abby McDonald, Brandon Septer, Taylor Lafferty.Visitation will be held Thursday, January 25, 2006, from 5-7pm in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
