Louise Elizabeth Schide, age 81, of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover following a courageous battle with lung disease.Born December 6, 1928 in Dillonvale, O. she was the daughter of the late Adam and Rosina Ciotti. Louise graduated from Midvale High School, where she played the trumpet in the high school band. Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed listening to a variety of musical performances such as high school band performances, and summer concerts at Tuscora Park.Louise worked for a variety of companies including A & P Grocery Store, Office Appliance, and Huntington Bank.Louise’s family was the highlight of her life. She loved to cook and bake for them and also supporting them in their endeavors.She was a champion pie and cookie baker and also had a love for flowers and gardening. Even at the age of 81, she still maintained a garden of tomatoes and fresh herbs. Louise also enjoyed cheering on the New Philadelphia Quakers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She will be deeply missed by her children, Karen (Robert) Sterling of New Philadelphia, Kathy Rohe of Mayfield Heights, O., and Loren (Kendra) Schide of Bellbrook, O.; her grandchildren, Bryce Schide of Toledo, Amber (Eric) Garner of North Canton, Abbey (Andrew) Booth of Powell, O., and Ali Sterling of New Philadelphia; two great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Chloe Garner; her twin sister, Katherine Hosmer of Paris, O.; and her dear friends, Betty Knight and Marge Robinson.In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Ciotti. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A funeral service celebrating Louise’s life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia with Rev. Stephen L. Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia with the women of the church providing the meal.Those wishing to send the family personal condolences may do so by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.Memorial contributions in Louise’s memory may be directed to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 202 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, O. 44663, where she was a member for more than 50 years.
