Louis Joseph Rypien, 74, of Uhrichsville, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Union Hospital in Dover.He was born February 23, 1929, in Newport, Ohio and was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School. Louis served honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Timken Roller Bearing in the Quality Control Department for over 20 years. Then, he worked as a salesman for V&V Appliances in Canton. Throughout his life, he also was self employed and owned and operated three Laundromats and Dry Cleaners in Uhrichsville.Louis was a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge # 510, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dennison, and also a member of the former New Philadelphia Exchange Club. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and greatly enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.Together with his wife of 50 years, Ann Elizabeth (Winspear) Rypien, of the home, he raised three daughters, Rebecca Rypien of Summerfield, Jane (Keith) DelValle of Kenton and Sara Renicker of Uhrichsville. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Robert and Sierra Renicker, Gabriel Large, Sawyer and Dakota DelValle; a sister, Sally Burroway of North Carolina and brother, Michael Kasco, Sr. of Uhrichsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Rosa Jessick Rypien; three brothers, Vince, Frank and Carl Rypien and several half-brothers and half-sisters.Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003, from 7-9 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, in New Philadelphia. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 AM at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia with Rev. Terry J. Burroway officiating.
