Louis “Paul” Lorenzoni, originally from Roswell, passed away peacefully in his sleep in New Dawn Healthcare Facility on Sunday, February 8, 2015, after a period of declining health.
Paul was born in Union Hospital on January 1, 1943, the son of the late Louis and Helen Marcella (Craig) Lorenzoni of Roswell. He was a member of St Elizabeth’s Church, where he served as an Alter boy for many years.
Paul attended Dennison St. Mary’s Catholic School and began his work history at an early age by delivering the Daily Times Newspaper in Roswell. He worked at a tree farm until he was hired at the Evans Brick Plant in Midvale where he retired after 30 years.
Anyone who knew Paul can attest to him being a very strong worker. Always the first to arrive on the job and the last to leave so he could make sure his area was ready for the next day. His life was one of hard physical labor, which he performed with great pride. Whether it was shoveling out the driveway after a heavy snow, washing his car, tilling the garden, mowing, or baling hay on his Grandpa’s farm, he made sure he performed the job until it was completed.
Paul was of a very generous spirit, always willing to help others. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians fan, always ready to talk sports with anyone, be they friends or strangers. He was also a great fan of country music, sharing his love for music with the residents of New Dawn, whether they liked it or not.
Paul will be missed by his sisters, who lovingly cared for him, Carolyn (Ron) Brodzinski of New Philadelphia and Marilyn Lorenzoni, also of New Philadelphia. His special nieces, Megan Erwin of Akron and Melissa Erwin of California were his pride and joy. His Aunt Verma Lorenz completes his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his stillborn brother, Doyle Eugene Lorenzoni, two brothers-in-law, Rick Erwin, and Stewart Harper.
Fr Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 12th, at 1 pm at Sacred Heart Church with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
Memorial contributions in Paul’s memory may be directed to Sacred Heart Church, 139 3rd St NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
