Lorinda Mary Walker, age 90, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully early Saturday morning, July 9, 2005, in her residence, surrounded by her family. Born February 24, 1915, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Lorinda was a daughter of the late Robert A. and Eva McLaughlin Hilton. Lorinda and her family relocated to the Tuscarawas Valley when she was a young lady, and she attended school at the former Walnut Grove Schoolhouse and later at New Philadelphia Schools. On April 13, 1935, Lorinda married Otis T. Walker Sr. The two would spend the next fifty-six years together until his death on March 26, 1992. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker her entire life. She was a faithful member of the Roxford United Methodist Church. At home, she enjoyed tending to her lovely flower gardens, working crossword puzzles, and spoiling her daschund named Lacy. Lorinda was a loving and caring mother who will be sadly missed by her four daughters; Phyllis (Richard) Michael of Lakeland, Florida, Ida (Lyman) Brokaw of New Philadelphia, Hilda Baldwin of New Philadelphia, Janice (Keith) Jones of Magnolia, and two sons; Gerald “Mickey” Walker of Somerdale, and Otis (Ginnie) Walker Jr. of Sherrodsville, 26 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, a brother; Francis (Estelle) Hilton of Warsaw, and a sister; Mrs. Hilda Judy of Culpepper, Virginia.In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by a son, Donald J. Walker in 1993, a daughter, Roberta Mae Clark in 2004, a daughter-in-law, Dafnes Walker in 2004, five grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a sister; Evelyn Hilton, and three brothers; Walter, Alfred, and Robert Hilton. Friends are invited to call Monday afternoon from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.The Rev. Dr. Joel Adkins will officiate Mrs. Walker’s funeral ceremony Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Roxford Church Cemetery. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Roxford Family Life Center, adjacent to the cemetery.
