Loretta Henderson

Loretta Eileen Henderson, 80, of Canton, died Thursday, July 20, 2017 in Aultman Hospice Compassionate Care Center following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Joseph and Reatha (Tomlin) Murphy, Loretta was born April 2, 1937 in Gilmer County, West Virginia.

Loretta graduated from Dover High School in 1956. She was employed as a Chiropractic Assistant with her brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Brown and formerly worked at Schwartz-Kline’s Department Store.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Henderson whom she married on April 5, 1986; her children, Pamela (Kim) Hicks of Dover and Michael (Jackie) Kollar of Sugarcreek; her step-children, Julie Fano of Green, Robert (Rachael) Henderson, Jr. of Ravenna and Cathy (Jamin) Saari of Dover. Her siblings, Phyllis Van Horn of Fresno, Twila (Richard) Brown of Strasburg, Gerald (Sheryl) Murphy of Dover, Joe (Elaine) Murphy of Sherrodsville, Doyle (Darlene) Murphy of Mineral City, Stephen (Karen) Murphy of Twinsburg, and Darrell (Linda) Murphy of Hawaii. Her grandchildren, Jairon Hicks, Lindsay Kenney, Lisa Knotts and Ashley Keim; step-grandchildren, Scott Fano, Shane Fano, Kalie Fano, Christina Fano, Cody Rogers, Nicole Henderson and Sam Henderson. She was also fortunate to be survived by seven great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Don Murphy, Dennis Murphy, Victor Murphy, Luverna Polen, Mona Coventry and Maxine Rufener.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 10  to 11 AM in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Loretta’s life will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Dwight Mason officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia. Inurnment will then take place in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman at a later date.
