Lonnie Duane Shotwell, 49, of Coshocton, died Thursday, April 29, 2010 in Good Samaritan Medical Center at Zanesville following a sudden illness.A son of Phyllis (Zimmerly) Griesen and the late Hoyt Duane Shotwell, Lonnie was born on January 31, 1961 in Union Hospital at Dover.Lonnie was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He was employed by Gradall since 1992 as a painter and took pride in the fact that he put the finishing touches on the machinery.He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. Lonnie also enjoyed playing pool and collecting model trains. He was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as NASCAR.On September 26, 1992, Lonnie married the love of his life, the former Tami Hanenkrat who survives. Also surviving are his mother and step father, Phyllis and Jerry Griesen of Stone Creek; a sister, Sherry (Dan) Fechuch of Uhrichsville; a brother, Gary Shotwell of New Philadelphia; a half brother, Duane (Ashley) Shotwell of South Carolina; his beloved dogs, Autumn, Lady and Daisy and many other extended family members.The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Lonnie’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Bilza officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Because of Lonnie’s love for animals, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to an organization benefiting animals.Linn-Hert-Geib330-343-5506www.geibcares.com
