Lois Phillips Wayts

LOIS PHILLIPS WAYTS, 49, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday evening, April 22, 2003 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 10, 1953 in Tuscarawas County to John and the late Donna Schumacher Phillips, who died March 1, 2002. In 1972 she graduated from New Philadelphia High School. She shared her life for more than twenty-five years with her husband and best friend, Ken Wayts, whom she married on June 24, 1978. Along with Ken, Lois enjoyed traveling, especially spending time at Hilton Head Island, SC. She also liked spending time with family and friends. In June 2002, Lois retired from the Tuscarawas County Auditors office after thirty years service. Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. She was also a member of the Democrat Women and Tuscarawas County Democrat Party. Besides Ken, Lois is survived by her father, John Phillips and her sister, Judy Lantzer, both of New Philadelphia; her niece, Michelle Lynn Lantzer (Tom) Scott of Lakeville, OH; and her mother-in-law, Esther Wayts of New Philadelphia. In addition to her mother, her father-in-law, Eugene Wayts, preceded Lois in death on January 12, 1985. Friends may call one-hour prior to the funeral, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Friday, April 25, 2003 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, where the funeral will be conducted at 10:30. Her pastor, Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey and her niece’s husband, Rev. Tom Scott, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal everyone is invited to a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home
