Lois Jane Dunlap

Lois Jane Dunlap, 97, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 04, 2015 in Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late John and Jennie (Sudduth) Smart, Lois was born April 2, 1918 at Newcomerstown, Ohio.

Lois graduated from Midvale High School in 1936 and was retired from Scio Pottery where she worked for 43 years.

Lois enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and was also an avid reader. She also enjoyed shopping and traveling but most of all enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Kerns and Jackie (John) Marty both of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Tony (Rhonda) Taylor, Glenn (Erin) Kerns, Kelly (Mariana) Kerns, Suzanne (Matt) Tyler, Kim Stallons, Teresa (David) Busdeker, Mary Buckingham and Antonia (John) Henline; 18 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren; two nephews, Randy and Ted Grace and a special caregiver, Vickie Marker and special friend, Jane Gilmore.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her former spouse, Jack Dunlap, a daughter, Sharon Berni, a grandson, Roger Tayler and a sister, Dorothy Sowers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Lois’ life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Dover Burial Park.
