Lois Hunter

Lois Ramona Hunter, 88, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, September 21, 2017, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center following a period of declining health.

Born at Cottageville, West Virginia on December 9, 1928, Lois was a daughter of the late Hollie A. and Chloe E. (O’Grady) Stone.

Lois was a 1946 graduate of the former Midvale High School and owned and operated The Style Shop as a hairdresser for many years.

She was a member of the Midvale V.F.W., the Dennison Eagles, and the Uhrichsville Moose. She loved playing cards, watching the Cleveland Indians and being an advocate for animals.

She will be missed by her children, John (Pat) Hunter of Uhrichsville, Mary (Darell) Butler of Dennison, and Melissa (Jerry) Horn, Jr. of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Hunter of Florida; her nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett E. “Abby” Neiswonger; her second husband, John E. Hunter; her son, Jeff Hunter; and three great-grandchildren.

A service led by Pastor Tom Hendershot will take place in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 AM. Private inurnment will take place in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, aides and staff of Schoenbrunn Healthcare for their attentive and kind care toward Lois while she has been a resident of the facility.
