Lois Ann Carlisle Vandever, age 75, of Columbia, South Carolina, formerly of New Philadelphia, entered into rest on Friday, April 25, 2008. Born June 28, 1932, at New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Vera Serig Carlisle. In 1998 Lois retired from Cooper Power Tool at Lexington, South Carolina, following a forty-two year career that began with Buckeye Tools and Rockwell Tools at Dayton, Ohio. In 1984, Lois transferred to Rockwell International at Columbia, South Carolina. There she was a dedicated employee and was loved by all of her co-workers, distributors, and salesmen around the country. Lois will be remembered as a mathematical genius after starting as a young girl working in the office with her father at the former John D. Tractor Sales at New Philadelphia. A longtime member of the Community of Christ at Columbia, South Carolina, Lois has served as congregation treasurer since 1984. She loved serving the Lord with her unique gifts and talents that touched many lives with her kind and caring personality. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Emerson M. Vandever, and precious cat Rascal. Two brothers, Glenn and Jim Carlisle of New Philadelphia, devoted nieces; Barbara Flinn, Becky Bosler, Cathy Beeble, and Janie Carlisle; nephews, Glenn Russell Carlisle and Timothy Carlisle; cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and Phyliss Maddox, a dear friend. Survivors also include a brother-in-law, Eston Vandever, of Middletown, Ohio, and his son, Ricky and a nephew Gene Music, and his wife, Liz and their daughter, Marty of Inglewood, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hill of Crossville, Tennessee, and her daughter, Janice Tatum of Louisiana and Beatrice McVay of New Vienna, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving daughter, Brenda K. Vandever in 1995 and an infant son Mark Anthony, a brother, Louis Carlisle.Visitation and funeral ceremonies were held in Columbia, South Carolina on Monday. Local services will be Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Community of Christ Church, 515 Church Avenue, SW, New Philadelphia where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial, alongside her daughter, will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the church fellowship hall. Lois was a passionate supporter of the Haiti School operated by Outreach International.
