Lois F. Rembert, 71, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Canal Pointe Nursing Center at Akron, Ohio following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Harry Theodore and Carmen Sophia (Ehlers) Medinger, Lois was born May 6, 1941 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Lois graduated from Allegheny High School in 1959 and attended various colleges throughout the years.
She held a variety of professional positions during her career and would finally retire as the President of the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce. Lois also served as President of the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Ohio from 1995 to 1996 and dedicated seven years of service to the Tuscarawas County Port Authority. She was a member of the New Philadelphia Rotary Club where she served as president from 1995-1996, a member of Toastmasters and an honored member of Oxford’s Who’s Who in 1993. Upon her retirement in 2006, she was recognized by the Ohio State Senate for her years of hard work and tireless dedication as a Chamber of Commerce president
After her retirement, Lois enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed playing euchre at the Dover Moose. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos and simply visiting with family.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Gayle) Rembert Jr. of Lutherville, Maryland, Mark (Cindy) Rembert of Erie, Pennsylvania and Brian (Dianna) Rembert of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Dennis III, Jessica, Shannon, Ryan and Crystal Rembert; four great grandchildren and a brother, Harry Medinger of Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Phyllis McCracken and a brother, Larry Medinger.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Lois’ life will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. A luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center immediately following the service. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will take place in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
