Lloyd E. Swinderman, 91, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2015 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following declining health.
Born in Midvale on July 14, 1923, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Dallas) Swinderman.
He attended Midvale schools until he went into the United States Army, where he received an injury, then honorably discharged. Lloyd received his diploma later.
Lloyd had many interests. In addition to spending many hours and days searching for Indian relics in the area, he enjoyed following his sons in their activities at church and school.
Lloyd was the last living charter member of the Sugarcreek Valley Archaeology Society. He was also a member of the New Philadelphia Nazarene Church where he served in various capacities.
On August 4, 1945, Lloyd married his lifelong companion and friend, Anna F. (Lahmers) Swinderman, with whom he celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this past year. Together they reared two sons, Richard (Cheryl) Swinderman of Dover and the late Thomas Swinderman. He also is survived by his brother-in-law, Ted Lahmers of New Philadelphia; grandsons, Ryan, Kyle, Adam, and Cory Swinderman; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Thomas (Linda) in 2005; his brothers, Ebert, Willard, Fred, and Clarence; and his sisters, Ruby, Hazel, Ina, Nora, and Helen.
