Lloyd Everett, age 86, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
He was born October 15, 1926, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, the son of Lloyd Clarence and Lucy Irene Gowins Everett. Lloyd was a 1944 graduate of the former Midvale High School.
Early on he worked at Greer Steel in Dover, Ohio, for 11 years and had served as president of the union. On February 21, 1948, he was united in marriage to Doris Dugan at Rosswell, Ohio; they later divorced. On August 17, 1972, he was united in marriage to Roberta Edmonds at Frostberg, Maryland; Roberta died April 18, 2003.
Following his time at Greer Steel, Lloyd went to work for Gradall Crane and Gundy Construction and later became the owner and operator of Everett Construction in Ohio. In 1974, Lloyd took a maintenance supervisor position at the Clow Valve Foundry in Oskaloosa and later worked at several foundries across the country as a consulting engineer. Upon his retirement, he moved to Oskaloosa in 2003 to be near his family. He had a strong work ethic and would find anything to keep himself busy. He was member of the American Cancer Society, and had been active in many professional organizations throughout his life and enjoyed collecting and rebuilding toy tractors.
His family includes his four children, James Everett of New Philidelphia, Ohio, Vickie (Steve) Whyde of Dover, Ohio, Becky (Terry) Anderson of Oskaloosa, and Cindy (Steve) Albright of Sully, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Judy) Everett of Columbus, Ohio; four sisters, Lucy Downing of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Violet Burgess of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Dolly (Ed) Canfield of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Nancy Meechan of New Philadelphia, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Roberta, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ron Everett; a granddaughter, Jennifer Flanagan; two brothers, Chuck Everett and Phil Everett; and a sister, Margaret Rankin.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. In keeping with Lloyd’s wishes, cremation will follow visitation.
