Lloyd Edmund Swaldo, 71, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover following a period of declining health.A son of the late John Swaldo Sr. and the late Fanny (Davis) Swaldo, Lloyd was born July 8, 1938 near Wainwright, Ohio.Lloyd graduated from Tuscarawas-Warwick High School in 1956. Then on January 22, 1961; he married the former Marilyn Lorenz. Together the couple raised two sons, Michael and David.Lloyd retired from Medina Supply in Massillon as a truck driver in 2003. Prior to that, he was employed by I.F. Manufacturing at New Philadelphia and Twin Cities Concrete at Dover.He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia and for a short time Lloyd served as the sexton at Trinity Episcopal Church at New Philadelphia. He was a member of the former New Philadelphia Moose lodge as well as a former social member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943.Lloyd was fond of birds and he enjoyed watching and feeding them. He could also be found tinkering with various projects around his home.He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Swaldo, his sons Michael Swaldo of Uhrichsville and David (Jeanne) Swaldo of Huron, Ohio; three sisters, Grace Swaldo and Thelma (Raymond) Metzger both of New Philadelphia and Gladys (William “Max”) Schaar of Lancaster, Ohio; a brother, Frederick (Donna) Swaldo of Uhrichsville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Swaldo Davis of Tuscarawas and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Swaldo Jr.; a sister, Beatrice Hutson and her husband, Daniel and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Helen Lorenz.Friends may call on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. A funeral service celebrating Lloyd’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia with Rev. Steve Patrick and Father Paul Johansen officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery at Tuscarawas.
