Linda L. Quinlan, age 77, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully early Tuesday morning, July 24, 2012, in Amberwood Manor.
Born at Canton, December 28, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Donovan and Helen Brumbaugh Slabaugh.
Linda graduated from Massillon High School and a few years later married John C. Quinlan on May 19, 1956. They celebrated thirty-six years of marriage prior to his death on May 29, 1992.
Locally, Linda worked for the former Reeves Bank as a teller before becoming a homemaker while her children were young. In later years, she volunteered as a “Pink Lady” in Union Hospital serving snacks and lunch in the hospital’s snack bar. Soon she was recruited to work as a nurse’s aid for the Hospital, a job she enjoyed until retirement.
In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint work. She was an avid reader, and formerly attended the New Philadelphia Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include her two sons; David (wife, Melanie) Quinlan, James (wife, Tammy) Quinlan, and her daughter, Susan Webber, all of New Philadelphia.
She’ll be sadly missed by her four grandchildren; Wylie and Katie Quinlan of New Philadelphia, Jason and Casey Webber of New Philadelphia.
Four brothers; Gene (wife, Vivian) Slabaugh of Tennessee, William Slabaugh of Akron, Darryl (wife, Karen) Slabaugh of South Carolina, and Dennis (wife, Margarita) Slabaugh of Hamburg, Germany.
No calling hours or services are scheduled. Cremation is planned and the family will gather at a later date for a graveside service, where Linda will be laid to rest alongside her husband, in Evergreen Burial Park.
