Linda G. Ford, 65, of New Philadelphia passed away suddenly of an apparent heart attack Monday afternoon, April 14, 2014 in Union Hospital at Dover.

Born in Twin City Hospital in Dennison on April 29, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John and Annetta (Tidrick) Mathews. After graduating from Port Washington High School in 1966, she continued her formal education at Kent State University.

On September 19, 1982, Linda married her companion and friend, David G. Ford. Together, they enjoyed watching Sunday afternoon football games and enjoying time with their grandchildren.

Linda also was an avid golf enthusiast, golfing every Sunday at Five Waters Golf Course with her friend. She also was an active member of the Monday bowling league at Boulevard Lanes. Additionally, she was a proud fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns and The Ohio State University sports teams. She also enjoyed feeding wildlife such as hummingbirds, birds and deer.

Linda was presently employed by Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown where she took care of Medicare Insurance billing and Accounts Receivables

In addition to her husband, Dave, Linda will be deeply missed by her family including her children, Brandon (Taneka) Bates of Dennison, Kim (Troy) Incarnato of New Philadelphia, and Michael Ford of Canton; her step-children, Shannon (Dennis) Dey and Matt (Julie) VanCuren, both of Illinois; several grandchildren; her siblings, Everett (Marilyn) Mathews of Grove City, Marlene (Jim) Gatten of California, and Kay (Gary) Dichler of Bolivar; her brother-in-law, Donald (Gloria) Ford of Lorain, Ohio.; two sisters-in-law, Sharon and Shelba Ford; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and in-laws.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Jill Dichler.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. A service celebrating her life will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception following the service in the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home. Cremation will then be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
