Linda E. Zubek, 59, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, September 28, at Union Hospital in Dover following a sudden illness.Born in Columbus, Ohio on April 8, 1945, Linda was the daughter of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Hornyak Thomas of Gates Mills.Following her graduation from Brush High School in South Euclid, Ohio, she attended the University of Indiana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan.On May 24, 1969, she married Dr. Richard M. Zubek, who survives. With him, she raised three daughters, with whom she shared her love of music and her faith.Linda was an accomplished Christian violinist, utilizing her talents and those of her husband and daughters to spread the gospel through a family music ministry. Appearing on television and radio programs, and visiting nursing homes and churches, the Zubeks became well-known throughout the state. Linda and her husband were also active in a local prison ministry. In addition, she was formerly concertmaster of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and taught Suzuki violin. She was part-time receptionist in her husband’s dental office.She is survived by her husband; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Catherine and Heith Yoder of Bolivar, Carolyn of Aurora, CO, and Cheryl and Mark Henderson of North Canton; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Yoder of Bolivar.Visitation will be Friday night, October 1, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 2, at 1:30 pm. The Rev. James Arnold of Bethel Temple Assembly of God and Rev. Randal Holdman of the Canton Temple of Praise Church of God will officiate. Burial will be at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.A reception at the Geib Family Center will follow the committal.
