Lillian Lee Walton, age 89, of New Philadelphia died Saturday, October 09, 2010, in the Sunrise of Willoughby Senior Living Community, at Willoughby, OhioBest known as Lil to her family and friends, she was a daughter of the late George and Ellen Amelia Moore Reesman, and was born at Hubbard, Ohio on July 5, 1921.Lil married the love of her life, Dale Eugene Walton on April 4, 1941. During World War II, while Dale was stationed in Europe, Lil took to housekeeping along the East Coast. During this time, Lil worked in a number of factories to support the war effort, doing what she recalled as “Rosie the Riveter” work.Upon Dale’s return from the service the couple settled in New Philadelphia and co-owned and operated Dale’s Radio, TV, and Hobby Shop until their retirement in the late 1980’s. When not assisting Dale in the store, Lil had a number of hobbies she personally enjoyed which included working crossword puzzles, and stamp and coin collecting. Lil also enjoyed Antiques and regularly attending auctions in hopes to find that perfect treasure. Lil is survived by a sister Ida Mae Smith of Miami, Florida and eleven nieces and nephews as well as their extended families.In addition to her parents, Lil was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, who died on June 8, 2010, following sixty-nine years of marriage. Two infant children; a son, Dale, Jr. and a daughter, Karen Walton; and two brothers, Jack and George Reesman also preceded Lil in death.The Reverend Richard Greenwood will lead a graveside service on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 1:00 PM in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Cats-N-Us, 829 Union Avenue, Dover, Ohio 44622.
