Lewis “Lew” Turner, age 79, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on his family farm Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2005.Born at Eagle River, Wisconsin, February 21, 1926, Lew was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Vida Turner. From the time he was one and a half years old, Mr. Turner resided in the Stonecreek-New Philadelphia area his entire life. A 1943 graduate of Stonecreek High School, Mr. Turner entered the United States Marines and served through World War II prior to returning to the area. Lew was a man who loved the outdoors. He farmed his entire life, and enjoyed the fellowship of his family. He’ll be sadly missed by his wife of forty-six years, the former Pat Wallace, whom he married April 17, 1959. Lou’s family also includes three daughters; Patty and her husband Patrick McHenry, Jacquelyn Turner, and Charlene and her husband Edward Diehl all of New Philadelphia, and a son; Randy Kinsey of Newcomerstown. Four grandchildren; Joshua and Samantha McHenry and Madeline and Anna Diehl, all of New Philadelphia, two sisters; Kathryn Dahman of Lutz, Florida, and Ellen Jurevic of Lake Oswego, Oregon and a brother, Steve Turner of New Philadelphia, also survive. In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner is preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy P. Turner; three sisters, Ann Fitzgerald, Ida Seimers, and Peggy Ann Anguish, and three brothers, John, Joe and Vic Turner. There will be no public calling hours. A private graveside service will be held, Saturday, June 25, 2005 in the Turner Family Cemetery east of Bucher Road. .
