Lester W. Ley, 82, of Dover passed away in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center at New Philadelphia on December 13, 2015 following a period of declining health.
Born in Mineral City on July 25, 1933, he was the son of the late Frederick F. and Cleda E. (Moreland) Ley, Sr. He was loved and cared for throughout his childhood by Clarence and Ferral Baldwin.
After completing his formal education he served in the United States Army. Then joined Shenango Penn Mold where he worked for 33 years, and retired there as a chief inspector in the shipping department. He also worked in the evenings with Eckert Ford as a saleman for 20 years. In retirement, Lester made deliveries for both Marlowe’s and Baker Florist.
Lester and Sara were members of the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church.
On June 15, 1957, Lester married his lifelong companion, the former Sara Louise Harris in the Mineral City Nazarene Church. In addition to Sara, Lester is survived by his daughter, Patricia S. Adams of Sugarcreek, Gary (Betty) Ley of Dundee, Timothy (Carrie) Ley of Clay City, Indiana, and Debra (Jim McConnell) Ley of Dover; special granddaughter, Stephanie (Doug Cross) Adams of Roswell; special great-grandson, Hunter D Cross; and siblings, Donna (Richard) Wilson of Dover, Vaughn Ley of New Philadelphia, and Clarence Ley of Dover.
In addition to his parents and Clarence and Ferral, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frederick Ley Jr, Glen Ley, and Carl Ley.
Pastor Bill Johnson officiated a private service and burial followed in Evergreen Burial Park where the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 rendered military honors.
