Lester Dale “Leon” Corbin, 87, of Uhrichsville, passed away in Oak Point Nursing Home in Baltic on Tuesday morning, November 5, 2013 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in Twin City Hospital at Dennison, on August 23, 1926, he was the son of the late Nelson H. and Albina Luella (White) Corbin.
After completing his formal education, Lester honorably served his country in the United States Navy and also the Army Reserve.
Lester was employed for Ed Gallagher Trucking and Bowerston Shale throughout his professional career.
His faith was nurtured at the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Uhrichsville.
Lester is survived by his niece, Jessie Winland of New Philadelphia; and his daughters, Mary (David) Ledsome of Zanesville and Jaclyn Winland of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Corbin, Estella McIntosh, Mary Winland, and Margaret Aeflora.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating his life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday beginning at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Andy McClung officiating. Burial will follow in Perrysville Cemetery.
