Lester Basiletti, Sr.

Lester E. Basiletti, Sr., 90, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, November 5, 2018 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late Massimo and Bertha (Welz) Basiletti, Lester was born December 12, 1927 at New Philadelphia, Ohio

Lester was a longtime heavy equipment operator having worked for Joe Skinner Construction and Tom Larkin Construction.

His favorite activities were playing cards, which he did many times each week, as well as fishing and racing cars during his younger years.

He is survived by his children, Rev. Santi (Claudia) Basiletti of Ft. Myers, Florida, Lester Basiletti Jr. of New Philadelphia, Jo Ann Brown of Gnadenhutten, Robert (Laurrie) Basiletti and Harry (Ruth Jean) Basiletti both of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Pam Basiletti of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Romona Weber; and a brother, Emmett Basiletti.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie (Grasselli) Basiletti whom he married on August 18, 1949; a son, Ralph Basiletti; and 14 siblings.

A private family graveside service will be held in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia at a later date.
